Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting 11-inning contest that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total over 50 million viewers in the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this is the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic game secured over 27 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the last finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game series averaged 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership was 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M viewers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen various languages.
